What to Expect at a Beginner-Friendly Watercolour Workshop in Harrow

Curious about trying watercolour painting but not sure where to start? Or maybe it’s been years since you picked up a paintbrush and you’re ready to dip back in? You’re in exactly the right place.

I run relaxed, beginner-friendly watercolour workshops at Harrow Arts Centre (just a stone’s throw from Hatch End station), where the vibe is creative, calming, and just a little bit splashy!

Whether you’re coming solo, with a friend, or booking in for a creative treat, here’s a little peek at what to expect…

No experience? No problem!

Honestly—if you haven’t painted since school, or you’re still figuring out which end of the brush to hold (we’ve all been there), you’ll be absolutely fine. My workshops are designed with complete beginners in mind, with plenty of guidance, demos, and time to play.

You’ll learn:

  • How to use watercolour materials

  • Simple techniques like blending, layering and splashing

  • How to paint loose, expressive scenes (think florals, seascapes, or even animals)

Each workshop has a theme, and you’ll go home with your own painting—plus the buzz of having tried something new.

All materials provided

You don’t need to bring a thing—just yourself and maybe a friend. I provide all the materials, from paints to lovely textured paper. There’s a friendly welcome and time to chat in between painting too. It’s a lovely way to unwind and meet other creative souls.

Who comes along?

People just like you! My workshops attract:

  • Adults looking for a creative outlet

  • Parents with arty children age 10 up

  • Busy parents treating themselves to a couple of hours off

  • Retirees reconnecting with their artistic side

  • Absolute beginners

  • Hobby painters looking to build confidence

And yes—you’re allowed to be nervous. But you won’t be for long, promise.

Where it all happens

Workshops take place at Harrow Arts Centre in North West London, a lovely venue with lots of natural light and free parking. It’s easily reachable from Hatch End, Pinner, Harrow, Ruislip and surrounding areas.
